It’s Here!
Nearly unbelievable, unputdownable, true story, told as a memoir that often reads like a thriller, CROOKED STRAIGHT tells of Maryse’s unconventional coming of age through early loss of innocence, rebellion, survival, international drug trafficking adventures from Toronto to Amsterdam to Spain.
But that’s just the back story. We enter her life early one morning in Toronto when Maryse, at age twenty-five, has finally managed to extricate herself from a life of drug dealing and hopelessness, a life she landed in because of her deep shame over her early experiences of abuse at the hands of her mother and grandfather, events for which she shouldered the blame.
But life hands her much bigger problems on this day.
Over a five-hour period of time, she’s forced into choices she’s rather not make—choices that force her to look deeply into herself, into tearing apart her past. Choices she must make immediately. Choices that will affect her very freedom, yet give her an opportunity to see justice served—though in a quirky way—if only she’ll help Toronto police capture a wanted serial rapist.
While there’s a warrant out for her own arrest.
Highly relevant to today’s #MeToo movement. What happens when a girl faced with incest and abuse tries to protect herself and grow up at the same time?

A broken back. A devastating diagnosis. A plea for death. Then, an awakening.
When Maryse stands from her couch one morning and eight of her vertebrae collapse, she soon discovers the heartbreaking reason: an incurable cancer that “eats” bones from the inside out. And just as things seem to stabilize, she’s diagnosed with breast cancer. Again.
While she seesaws between the gargantuan world of oncology, alternative treatments, and what some would call woowoo cures, we meander with her into what it takes to truly heal, beginning at the elemental level.
Who the $%@& Says We Have Tomorrow? How I made cancer my bitch! deep dives into the complete rehabbing of the author’s life, including the route she took to keep herself healthy despite living with an incurable cancer, and how she expanded her life by shrinking it.
If you enjoy learning some unusual ways others used in their healing journeys, perhaps to enhance your own, be it emotional or physical, you’ll love this extraordinary, and sometimes funny account of how one woman tore apart and completely redesigned all aspects of her life. She achieved it with a ménage à trois of traditional, alternative, and woowoo healing protocols related to spirituality, and despite pushback from all sides of the medical divide.
Who the $%@& Says We Have Tomorrow? How I made cancer my bitch! Pre-orders coming October 15, 2022. Be first in line to get this this tears-to-laughter-and-back intriguing story of how one woman turned cancer and death on its head and found a way to thrive!

Bio

writer ♥ memoirist ♥ novelist
Maryse was born in Montreal, Canada, early on a chilly Tuesday morning in January.
Drawn to the unconventional, to creative endeavors, and a bohemian at heart, she loves traveling, dinner parties, and quirky conversations.
She obtained her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, ran a small business for too many years to count, and raised two exceptional human beings before dedicating her time to writing.
For fun, she takes writing classes, travels, goes to movie theaters where dinner can be ordered from a reclining seat, makes her own bone broth, has dinner parties or attends them, and walks nature trails while writing stories in her head.
When she’s not elsewhere, you’ll find Maryse in a cute town north of Dallas, Texas, in a house surrounded by beautiful mature trees, the song of birds, and don’t forget the squirrels! Known to go radio silent for no reason.
